Random Rock Playlist: Dream Pop
HEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's me..............AGAIN!
Time To Pout!
Just kidding! Actually today is a special blog I'm posting since this one chould be able to take the entire video (Hopefully) It's another RRP (If you didn't know, it's one of my Random Rock Playlist {No trademark required since I feel like I haven't invented the thought before}) Anywho, last time was around bands who fell into the Glam Rock genre. Today I'll be covering Dream Pop.
Broadcast
Now some of you are probably thinking, "What the fuck is Dream Pop?!" Dream Pop is basically what I like to call a crossover genre. It has been associated with many different artists or groups usually in a particular song, but most of the time has been associated with Indie Rock bands or like it's cousin of a distant relative, Shoegaze. In the simplest of terms, Dream Pop is a genre of music that has been an underground a lot, dating back to the 50's and inspirations starting from the 40's.
The Jesus And Mary Chain
People tend to consider this the "Sexiest" of all the genres of music. Why? Simple. The atmosphere the artists bring are so emotionally raw when making these certain songs that it's even perfect for spending some time with your loved ones, and it's something that at least everyone has heard before. To identify a Dream Pop song is simply listening to it. It's not a fashion statement, so it's not visual most of the time. It's not something so tactical or aggresive like Punk Rock or Heavy Metal. It's simply sound, beautiful sound that once it reaches the back of your head, it gently carries you inside what appears to be a landscape painted by delicate fingers. I like to use it more as a quick way to go to sleep. :P

Pay attention to the vocals and background music. The singer usuallys sings like they're simply breathing or whispering while the instruments are beautifully distorted that barely any sharpness of a note reaches your eardrum. The lyrics or melody of the song usually revolves around the feeling and fears we usually have in everyday life, mostly relating to love. Most of the time, the visual style of Dream Pop depends on blurry tuxtures, brightness contrasting with darkness, minimalistic imagery, or pastel like shades blended on album covers or music videos. performances even rely on these visuals to strengthen the feeling the song gives, like you're daydreaming.
Slowdive
So, now that you know what it is, it's time for me to show you an example. So this time I haven't uploaded this compilation to Youtube yet, so I will be uploading it here first. Hopefully Blogger can take it since this shit is 3 hours long! :( If it doesn't show, oh well. Minus well do parts. (UPDATE: Fuck it, minus well just insert every single video on here.)
