Song Of The Day #4

Today we're going to be talking about something that's been on a lot of peoples minds ever since the 40's. Can cartoons actually make record labeled, chart topping, best selling music like their human counterparts? The answer is yes!
Definitely!
Seriously?!

Ever since the Chipmunks were created, (before they were covering every single popular song that was ever created through the internet.) there has always been a rarity of virtual bands or musicians in the industry (And I'm not talking about fictional rock bands with real actors in them like Hedwig & The Angry Inch or The Blues Brothers or even The Partridge Family) ((I'm not even talking about fictional rock bands that only appear a couple of times but are specifically made for a show and are easily forgotten.)) I'm talking about the bands that either were made to be somewhat involved in the music industry or bands that somehow got a following so strong, they happen to make actual physical cds and they have cherished hits either on the top 100 or adored by fans. Like somehow they were serious about bands that didn't exactly need to feature an actual being. Today I'm talking about:
Gorillaz: Clint Eastwood (Feat. Del Tha Funkee Homosapien)
People might remember Gorillaz a lot for "Feel Good Inc.) featured on their second album, Demon Days, that has been multiply-used by video games, commercials, multiple covers, and featured one of Hip Hop's most underrated gems, De La Soul (I seriously think De La Soul albums are the best.)  The one song that really jetsetted their career forward though is Clint Eastwood, a dedication to one of the world's most remembered badass actors, Clint Eastwood.
As the title says...
It's a mix of simple drum beats with occasional cymbal crashes by Russel, and slow but steady picking with Noodle on guitar and Murdoc on bass guitar. That is so simply genius enough to get you on the dance floor, while 2D solemnly sings the chorus "I ain't happy, I'm feeling glad, I got sunshine in a bag, I'm useless but not for long, The future is comin' on." until Del breaks out and raps as his alter ego Del, a possessive spirit overtaking Russel. Every single music video of Gorillaz tends to map out an entire story that would be too precious to ruin it on either a motion picture deal or even my blog. Check them out though, they are one of THE best cartoon bands ever created (Especially since it's made by the lead singer of Blur, (David Albarn) and Tank Girl comic creater (Jamie Hewlett))

 Enjoy!
