Random Rock Playlist: Comedy Rock
Hey what's up, it's time for another extra long playlist!!!
Avenue D
:P We love to laugh sometimes in our life, even more often then we usually do. It gives us such happiness, yet everyone has different types of humor that they love. Whether it's a simple joke that you find in the popsicle stick that you had devoured, jokes about stereotypes you keep to yourself but laugh when available because of it's over-exaggerating tone, the latest dirty jokes your friends tell you at a bar, and even the real life experiences we share with people sometimes makes them giggle at the irony. But what exactly is the definition of what comedy is? How can we describe comedy to another person when we all react differently to things?
The Mothers Of Invention
I think comedy is a way we react to life itself in the most uplifting way: just laughing at it. We crack at the irony of all the downsides of life and look at it in a positive way (Unless you're an asshole,) We like to watch a professional comedian talk about their depressing life because we are able to connect and relate to those incidents. Sometimes they would even parody a song people have listened to countless times. But what about real comedy in actual song form? What if there were artists that were serious in making songs that made people laugh or giggle.? Actual bands that had their own albums and Eps released with comedic diversity?
Tenacious D
Ever since words were put into music, often musicians would add humor to some of their pieces, but want to be known as serious composers of other topics other than comedy. Comedy Rock has started around the late 50's. Even though several musicians had played a song or two that made themselves crack a smile, they themselves aren't actually Comedy Rock musicians. Several stand up comedians have also plucked at a guitar but just consider themselves comedians instead of musicians.
Mamonas Assassinas
Finding a legit comedy band isn't hard to find though. Several punk rock groups have several songs that had a humorous overtone. Some comedians actually release albums of them playling songs (with a backup band sometimes) other than mostly doing stand-up. There are even several bands that spoof a particular artist (or more). Some bands have even starred in television shows, even having comedy shows of their own.
Spinal Tap
So today's RRP revolves around rock bands who are also pretty good comedians too. So join me in listening to awesome bands thats know how to play yet can give us a few giggles along the way. The following artists/songs listed are:
